Little Stocking Co. Character Illustration Reveal

I recently worked with a very cool company, Little Stocking Co. on character design. They were looking for two characters that would represent their brand, could be used for marketing and on packaging, and could also be updated using accessories and details in order to work with various collections of their stockings and knee highs. It was a really fun challenge and I was so happy with the way they came out.

Above represents their Schoolhouse collection as well as their Fairytale collection.

If you have littles, check out Little Stocking Co.'s shop, beautiful products for little fashionable girls. I definitely need to get some for my toddler :-)

Hope you enjoy!

Diary of a Freelancer

Freelancing, mommy-ing, and blogging can be hard. I'm not complaining, and I definitely wouldn't have it any other way, BUT I need to admit that - some days - I'm not the best juggler. I'm a work in progress, and I'm aiming toward a better balance... but it's still a work in progress.

There are days when I feel like I'm winning and days when I'm failing. But there is something about art that I can't stop. It's a drive in me, something I need to be doing, and I hope to be doing for a very long time.

So that brings me to my post. Where have I been? What have I been doing? Why did I go M.I.A. for so long. Well... juggler...  not the best... so there's that... I've wanted to be here, so much, but at the same time something needed to go on pause. I know the climb back will be tough, and I'm sure I'll have some slips along the way, but I also know it's important to me and I want to get back to it.

I've worked over the last few months with a lot of amazing clients. I wrapped up a bunch of jobs that I'm really proud of, and I can't wait to share them all with you! For now though, my start back at it, was to update my website. I'll be sharing those jobs in the coming days and weeks here and on instagram, but if you don't want to wait for me to share here, check out my site and see my new work there now. I'm not the best with patience so I get it hehe.

Above is my updated home page as well as a peek at a new page I added, My Sketchbook, where I'll be sharing more looks at work in progress, sketches, ideas that I'm playing out, trials on new styles and concepts, etc.

I hope you enjoy and I will be back in-touch soon.

I've missed you.

The Quetzal Cafe Menu

I've been working with an incredible Interior Designer, The Dandelion Design, on custom paintings and illustrations for her clients. The Dandelion Design's goal is always to tell her clients story through their decor choices and as a result her ideas for artwork are always unique and personal. It's been so much fun working on paintings with her and I couldn't wait to share the latest.

The latest one is a family menu design. It was painted 24 inches by 16 inches and featured the family's favorite drinks and meals. The menu, The Quetzal Cafe, also incorporated imagery specific to this lovely family. Three quetzal birds represented their children, initials of mom and dad appear on the tree, and their cat is present. All to create something special for them and to tell their story.

Hope you enjoy!

2017 April Calendar Fashion Illustration Reveal

It's well beyond time to share my April 2017 Calendar fashion illustration! I moved over the last month and while I knew it was going to be crazy I don't think I understood just how crazy it would get. Buying a home and moving in is always an adventure... Happily though we are getting into a nice routine and settling in and I will be back much more regularly in the coming months! So overdue and so happy to be saying that!

Hope you are having a good April!

2017 February Calendar Fashion Illustration Reveal

Ahh better late than never, I guess, but at this point I debated sharing February and March at the same time! It's been a crazy few weeks with work, and mom-ing, an amazing children's book illustration class I'm taking, and the fact that we are moving... to say I'm running behind is sadly an understatement!

I'm hoping you love my February 2017 calendar fashion illustration though! And just think only 10 more days and you get to see the next one.

If you like this lovely lady and would like your own desktop calendar for 2017 get yours here.

Diary of a Freelancer, Starting the Year Right

It's been a crazy few years here. Trying to figure out the best balance with being a mom and growing my company has been a learning curve. I know I have let some things slip. Especially important things like keeping my website up to date, promoting via social media regularly, AND blogging regularly.

In order to start the year off right I (finally) updated my website!! It's one small step forward, but it's something I feel like I need to celebrate! I updated my about me information and added a lot of new projects and I'm feeling so good about it. You can check out my updated website and recent work here!

What things, big or small, are you celebrating this year? What goals did you set? What are your resolutions?

Happy New Year! XO
